Bagasse is used to produce Particle Board sheets to be used as building materials in the construction industry. To produce the particle board sheets, pith is separated from bagasse in a de-pithing machine and the fibre in the bagasse is transferred to a dryer via carriers to reduce moisture. Once the fiber is dried, it is further refined into smaller particles that are divided into three grades: core particle, surface particle, and dust.
Dust is separated out while the the core and surface particles are mixed with glue and shifted to forming stations. The resulting product is formed into three layers of cake by machines that spread the mixture and and fill it in molding cases. A hot press further compresses the mixture to the required thickness under controlled pressure and temperature environments as required. The resulting board is then trimmed and sanded to produce the final product as per the required specifications.
